Lacey Evans Faces Criticism from Sgt. Slaughter Over WWE Character

Lacey Evans, a former WWE wrestler, received backlash for her portrayal that bore resemblance to WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter. Despite Slaughter’s disapproval of her character, Evans remained focused on her work and supporting her family. The controversy arose from Evans using a similar finishing move, the Cobra Clutch, to Slaughter, and the military themes in their characters. Evans also made remarks about Slaughter’s family, particularly his daughter, which were not well received. Nevertheless, Evans clarified that there is no animosity and stressed the importance of honoring wrestling veterans and current performers who are dedicated to their craft. Evans left WWE in August 2023 after requesting her release due to dissatisfaction with how she was being utilized in the company.
