Blackburn magistrates were informed that Jordan O’Brien attempted to flee from officers until one of them aimed a Taser at him, ending his escape.

Mr. O’Brien, 24, residing at Cherry Lodge, Islington, admitted to resisting arrest. He was fined £160 along with £85 in costs and a £64 victim surcharge, all accounting for his time in custody.

Prosecutor Nicola Mills revealed that the police were called to a domestic disturbance where a breach of a sexual assault restraining order was suspected.

“The defendant was apprehended by the police and warned, but due to him holding a child, they couldn’t handcuff him,” Mills explained.

“Eventually, he was taken towards a van, but he made a break for it. Officers pursued him into a field, but a Taser was used, and he was targeted before his escape was halted,” Mills detailed.

During the defense, Jonathan Taylor stated that O’Brien expressed remorse for his behavior.

“He was upset about his arrest and acknowledged that it would complicate matters for the police,” Mr. Taylor added.
