Max Holloway secured the “BMF” title with a sensational knockout victory over Justin Gaethje in a highly intense fight at UFC 300. UFC 300.

In the closing moments of the bout, Holloway (26-7 MMA, 22-7 UFC) landed a devastating blow on Gaethje (25-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC), leading to Gaethje being knocked unconscious with just 1 second remaining in the lightweight “BMF” title match in the fifth round. UFC 300 main card took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Both fighters exhibited caution in the first round. Holloway demonstrated patience and precision, while Gaethje countered with strong boxing.

The turning point came at the end of the first round when Holloway executed a jumping back kick, causing significant damage to Gaethje. The impact was visible as Gaethje received medical attention between rounds.


Gaethje faced further setbacks in round two as Holloway accidentally poked him in the eyes twice, though no points were deducted.

In round three, Holloway displayed superior speed and landed powerful shots, causing Gaethje to struggle.

The fourth round saw a shift in momentum as Gaethje managed to knock down Holloway for the first time in his career.

Ahead of the fifth round, Gaethje’s coach urged him to be more aggressive to turn the match around.

However, Holloway surprised Gaethje with his relentless attacks and finished him off with a series of punishing combinations in the final seconds.

The victory extends Holloway’s winning streak to three fights, including wins over Arnold Allen and Chan Sung-jeong.

Gaethje, on the other hand, is on a two-fight winning streak, with recent victories over Rafael Fiziev and Dustin Poirier.

This “BMF” title match was the third in UFC history, with the first one taking place at UFC 244 in November 2019, where Jorge Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz. Gaethje claimed the vacant title after Masvidal’s retirement and his knockout win against Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 in July 2023.
