Michael Page believes that Kevin Holland has learned a valuable lesson about making informal agreements with dangerous strikers ahead of their fight at UFC 299.
Page, who is a former Bellator title challenger with an impressive record of knockouts, is set to make his debut in the Octagon on March 9th at the Caseya Center in Miami. He will be facing Holland, and their welterweight bout is scheduled to open the main card and will be broadcast on pay-per-view. Page sees shades of Holland’s previous fight with Stephen Thompson, where Holland made a pre-fight promise and ended up losing the match.
Despite Holland’s desire to entertain fans, Page believes that there needs to be a line drawn and he doesn’t expect Holland to make the same mistake again. Page stated, “We know for a fact that Kevin Holland doesn’t want to sign that contract again after the big fuss he made against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.”
Page is confident in his own abilities and doesn’t believe that Holland would want to repeat the striking-only deal with him, saying, “I consider myself a faster, harder-hitting, more dangerous version of ‘Wonder Boy’ Thompson.”
Page is determined to showcase his skills on the UFC stage and is prepared for any game plan that Holland brings to the Octagon. He believes that regardless of Holland’s approach, the outcome will be in his favor.
Page aims to establish himself in the UFC’s welterweight division and is eager to display his abilities to the UFC audience. He expressed, “The pressure from other people is irrelevant to me. I put that pressure on myself. I want to be a highlight reel, KO artist.”
