Michael ‘Venom’ Page is confident that defeating Ian Machado Garry could bring him closer to his first shot at a UFC title. After winning his UFC debut against Kevin Holland at UFC 299 in March, Page is scheduled to step back into the Octagon on June 29 to take on the unbeaten Irishman. The upcoming fight with Garry, who is ranked No. 7 in the welterweight division, carries significant title implications for both contenders.
During an interview with Chamatkar Sandhu, Page shared his belief that a victory over Garry might lead to a potential bout with the current 170-pound champion, Leon Edwards. However, he understands that securing one more win could be essential to solidify his aspirations for a title shot.
Looking ahead to prospective opponents, Page is eyeing a challenge against Kamaru Usman following his match with Garry. Usman, who has expressed admiration for Page, was somewhat unimpressed by Page’s UFC debut, indicating his belief that Page has the ability to deliver more remarkable performances in the Octagon.
Usman, currently on a three-fight losing streak which includes losses to Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev, is taking his time before returning to competition. Nevertheless, he is determined to regain his top form and pursue another title opportunity in the future.
