Mike Tyson Critiques Canelo Alvarez for Avoiding Tough Fights and Prioritizing Business Interests

Former boxing champion Mike Tyson recently shared his disappointment with Canelo Alvarez’s decision-making in boxing. Tyson feels that Alvarez lacks the courage to take on challenging opponents, particularly for refusing to fight David Benavidez. Tyson considers Alvarez’s avoidance of tough fights a disservice to the sport of boxing and to Mexico, where Alvarez hails from.

Although Alvarez is a highly skilled boxer with an impressive track record, Tyson believes that Alvarez’s focus on maintaining his perfect record and business interests detracts from the excitement and competitive spirit of the sport. Instead of accepting the challenge from Benavidez, Alvarez has chosen to defend his super middleweight titles against Edgar Berlanga in an upcoming match scheduled for this Saturday.

Berlanga, who has yet to taste defeat in his boxing career and has achieved 17 knockout victories, presents a formidable opponent for Alvarez. In contrast, Alvarez boasts a remarkable record of 61 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws, with 39 of his victories coming by way of knockout or technical knockout (TKO).
