Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson faced a medical emergency while on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Reports from In Touch Weekly stated that the 57-year-old had an “apparent medical scare” during the journey.

Concerns have been raised regarding Tyson’s upcoming match against YouTuber Jake Paul scheduled for July 20th. The fight is set to happen at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and will be shown on Netflix PPV. Tyson’s health crisis may potentially impact the fight.

Jake Paul, a 27-year-old cruiserweight fighter, has primarily competed against older MMA opponents in boxing matches. His most notable match was against Tommy Fury, resulting in a split decision loss in 2023. Tommy Fury, the half-brother of former heavyweight champ Tyson Fury, is considered a British domestic-level fighter.

Upon landing in Los Angeles, Tyson was attended to by paramedics who diagnosed him with an ulcer flare-up, causing feelings of nausea and dizziness. A spokesperson for Tyson confirmed to the New York Post that he is now in stable condition and grateful for the assistance he received.

Given Tyson’s age and health issues, many fans are questioning the decision for him to face Jake Paul in the upcoming bout. Tyson has not fought professionally since his knockout defeat to Kevin McBride in 2005. Doubts linger on whether Tyson still possesses the necessary skills to compete at a high level, especially against a younger opponent like Jake Paul.

As the fight date nears, speculation surrounds the nature of the match and whether both fighters will give their all or take it easy. Fans are unsure if the Tyson-Paul bout will truly measure skill and athleticism.
