When it comes to the potential return to the octagon for UFC 300 next year, former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz expressed his interest but admitted that he doesn’t have a potential opponent to face.
Diaz, who was once a top lightweight title challenger and a popular choice to move up to welterweight, left Dana White’s organization in November when his contract with the UFC ended.
In the previous UFC 279 event in September of the same year, Diaz went head-to-head with former interim lightweight titleholder Tony Ferguson, substituting for a fourth-round guillotine choke. He put in a lot of effort to win the bout against the former champion.
After departing the UFC, Diaz made his professional boxing debut in August, competing against Jake Paul, but lost by unanimous decision to the outspoken Texas striker.
The buzz around Diaz’s potential return to the UFC started when he posted a cryptic message on his official social media, leading fans to speculate about a potential comeback, with a post saying, “It’s time.”
