Lawrence Okolie and Kevin Lerena are set to have their WBC bridgerweight title fight purse bid hearing on October 1st as they could not come to an agreement through negotiation. Okolie, who is the current champion, will defend his title against Lerena in a mandatory match. The WBC scheduled the bid hearing during their weekly meeting on a Tuesday after the initial deadline passed. Okolie secured the title by defeating Lukasz Rozanski in May and is expected to have a favorable split from the bid. On the other hand, Lerena, a former two-division champion, will be challenging Okolie following a recent loss in the heavyweight category. Lerena previously held the IBO cruiserweight title and earned his opportunity to fight for the WBC bridgerweight title by emerging victorious in an eliminator last year.
