Heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk recently made news after being detained and handcuffed at Krakow airport. Videos showed Usyk being escorted by officials with handcuffs on, but the issue was quickly clarified.

Usyk had already boarded a Ryanair flight when one of his team members was denied boarding. Usyk left the plane to support his friend, who had driven him from Kyiv to Krakow and was exhausted from the journey. Usyk later expressed gratitude to the authorities and Ukrainian politicians for their assistance, explaining it was all a mix-up.

Mykhailo Krassyuk from Team-Usyk elaborated on the situation on social media, stating that Usyk was standing up for his fatigued friend who couldn’t board. The matter was swiftly resolved, showcasing Usyk’s loyalty and care for those around him.

Usyk’s conduct, both in and out of the boxing ring, including his charitable endeavors, patriotism, and backing for youth sports, have made him a favorite among fans and supporters. With his rematch against Tyson Fury scheduled in just over three months, all attention is on Usyk as he continues to display his integrity and prowess as a world heavyweight champion.
