After a span of over 24 years, a new undisputed world heavyweight champion has emerged, and the fight was impressive.
The most recent undisputed world heavyweight title fight occurred in November 1999. Before that, the division had gone through prolonged periods without unified champions. Riddick Bowe was the last to hold this title in December 1992, with the longest previous gap being close to a decade between Leon Spinks and Mike Tyson.
In a recent showdown of undefeated champions, Oleksandr Usyk emerged victorious over Tyson Fury to claim the undisputed world heavyweight title, a feat not achieved since Lennox Lewis. Usyk now shares the distinction with Holyfield as the second boxer in history to hold undisputed titles in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
