Welcome to Midnight Mania! Renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion and rising Heavyweight MMA star Marcus Almeida, also known as “Buchecha,” boasts an impressive record with multiple world championships in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) and gi competitions. Almeida made a buzz when he transitioned to MMA under the One Championship banner, winning his first four fights before facing Reug Reug, a Senegalese wrestler, in a memorable bout.

The encounter with Reug Reug occurred in August 2023, and Almeida has remained inactive since then. Expressing his frustration on social media, Almeida revealed his efforts to secure a fight have been unsuccessful, sparking speculations about a potential retirement.

Regrettably, Buchecha is not the only athlete dissatisfied with One Championship’s decisions. The promotion has reportedly shifted its focus from MMA to prioritize Muay Thai competitions, a move perceived as a cost-cutting strategy to improve financial performance. This shift has prompted other athletes like kickboxing champion Chingiz Allazov to voice their discontent with the organization and explore opportunities elsewhere.

At 34 years old, time is of the essence for Buchecha as he eagerly awaits a comeback to competitive action.

In other updates, the upcoming Fight Circus event is scheduled for September 13, featuring Matt Brown in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. Moreover, Petr Yan has issued a challenge to Deiveson Figureiredo, hinting at a potential thrilling showdown in the near future. Meanwhile, Francis Ngannou has enlisted boxing legend Mike Tyson as his coach for the anticipated fight against Tyson Fury and predicts a knockout victory for Jake Paul in November.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the world of combat sports!
