In a tragic event, former featherweight champion Orlando Salido is currently hospitalized in serious condition following a car accident that resulted in a man’s death. The incident took place in Sonora, Mexico, early on a Friday, when Salido’s Dodge RAM pickup truck veered off the road and collided with a man’s house, leading to the fatality.

The 61-year-old man lost his life due to injuries sustained during the crash, while his 53-year-old wife was also injured and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. Salido, aged 43, is under police supervision in the hospital, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident.

It remains uncertain whether Salido was driving under the influence of alcohol or if he fell asleep at the wheel during the incident. Our condolences are with the family of the deceased individual and his wife as they cope with this tragic event.

Salido, recognized for his tenacity and bold fighting approach, enjoyed a successful career with significant victories against notable opponents like Juan Manuel Lopez, Orlando Cruz, and Vasiliy Lomachenko. He concluded his professional boxing career in 2018 with a record of 44 wins, 14 losses, and 4 draws, including 31 knockouts, after experiencing various highs and lows.

We wish Salido a prompt and complete recovery from his injuries and anticipate further updates concerning the crash’s cause. Regrettably, he joins a list of high-profile fighters who have been involved in road accidents, including past champions like Carlos Monzon, Diego Corrales, and Salvador Sanchez, who tragically lost their lives in similar incidents.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Salido during this challenging time, hoping for his swift recuperation.
