Rising UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett could find himself facing Michael Chandler in the near future.

‘The Baddy’ has not been in action since his fight against Bobby Green at UFC 304 in July. Leading up to this match, Green was considered the toughest challenge of Pimblett’s career. However, it took less than a round for Pimblett to submit the veteran lightweight, securing a ranking in the 155-pound division.

After his impressive first-round victory, the Scouser expressed his desire to fight Renato Moicano. Although Moicano showed some interest in the matchup, he was subsequently booked to face Beneil Dariush at UFC 311 in January. With no opponent lined up for his UFC return, there’s speculation that Paddy Pimblett may meet the powerful Michael Chandler next.

Meanwhile, ‘Iron’ Chandler is coming off his recent return to the octagon at UFC 309 last month in New York City. After a two-year hiatus, he faced Charles Oliveira in a highly anticipated rematch. Unfortunately for Chandler, ‘Do Bronx’ handed the former Bellator champion a unanimous decision defeat, overcoming an amazing comeback attempt in the fifth round.

Earlier this month, Michael Chandler hinted that a fight against Paddy Pimblett might be on the horizon. Although he did not confirm that this bout would take place next, the signs suggest it could happen. In a recent YouTube video, Pimblett alluded to his upcoming return to the cage, using his catchphrase without naming Chandler directly.

“It’s a nice end to the year, to be honest,” said UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett on his YouTube channel after a training session. “I’m in good shape, about 84 or 85 kilos. People have been speculating about who I’m fighting. I’m coming for that belt, so I’m looking for higher-ranked fighters.”

He further mentioned, “I’m sure you’ll see a fight announcement soon enough. I’ve said yeah. The opponent said yeah, we just need to get stuff signed. So, you all know the score… I’ll see you at the top.”
