Paddy Pimblett was absolutely sure of his victory by submission over King Green at UFC 304. “The Baddy” accomplished a rare win by submitting Green, a veteran fighter who hadn’t been submitted since 2009. Despite Green’s strong striking abilities, Pimblett used his grappling skills effectively to secure the win.

After taking a hit from Pimblett’s leg kick, Green instinctively attempted a takedown, resulting in the fight moving to the ground. Pimblett eventually applied a triangle choke that put Green to sleep, transitioning into a triangle armbar that left Green with a damaged arm.

In a post-fight video blog, Pimblett shared that he had maintained his belief throughout his training camp that he would emerge victorious by submission. Despite his triumph, Pimblett had mixed feelings, stating, “I had been saying all camp that I would break his arm. And it happened. But, you know, I feel remorseful.”

In the vlog, Green was observed wearing a sling on his arm, suggesting that the severity of his injury is still unknown. Pimblett’s team suggested it was the easiest fight of his UFC career, and he agreed, saying, “I made it simple.”

Since making his UFC debut in 2021 following a successful stint with England’s Cage Warriors promotion, Pimblett has captured the attention of both fans and critics. With a flawless 6-0 record inside the octagon, Pimblett’s performance has been outstanding.

Reflecting on his win over Green in an interview with Jon Anik, Pimblett discussed his confidence in recognizing a tight submission. He also criticized the referee for taking too long to halt the fight, believing Green was unconscious before he applied the armbar.
