Light heavyweight up-and-comer Raffael Cerqueira is all set to step into the UFC octagon for the first time at UFC 308, taking place in Abu Dhabi on October 26. Following the unavailability of two potential opponents for a Contender Series event in September, Cerqueira will now be up against Ibo Aslan.
Cerqueira, boasting an undefeated record of 11-0, was initially slated to fight Uran Satybaldiev and then Patryk Grabowski, but will now be making his UFC debut at the upcoming event. On the other hand, Aslan, with a record of 13-1, is coming off a recent Fight of the Night victory and is currently riding a streak of five consecutive finishing wins.
Expressing his eagerness to showcase his talent in the UFC, Cerqueira had previously mentioned in an interview last December that he was fully prepared to demonstrate his skills in the promotion. UFC 308 will also spotlight the headline clash between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway as they battle it out over five rounds for the featherweight title.
