“I think he’ll be surprised at how quick I am, truly surprised,” Regis Prograis said in an interview with fight hub’s Marcos Villegas. Prograis is on the verge of his highly anticipated pay-per-view match against Devin Haney this weekend in San Francisco. Haney is relinquishing several lightweight world titles to move up in weight. Despite this, WBC junior welterweight titlist Prograis isn’t impressed. “I don’t respect Devin or Haneys,” he remarked in his fight hub interview. “I have no respect for any of those guys on the other side. I have no respect for Devin because he has to fight next week.”

Prograis appears unfazed by Haney’s highly touted and sophisticated skill set. “I don’t think he can claim what’s mine,” Prograis confidently stated. “It’s definitely going to be a different story for me.” It’s clear that Prograis is full of confidence heading into this weekend’s fight. “I’m going to neutralize him,” Prograis stated firmly. “If you make all these assumptions, it’s not going to work.” In essence, Prograis believes Haney has never encountered anyone like him. “I’m prepared for 12 brutal rounds,” he declared. “He can focus on whoever he wants, but for me, I’m tied to him.”

This is one of the most anticipated matchups of the year, featuring several high-profile clashes. Haney is unbeaten and looks formidable in the ring. Prograis has suffered only one loss, to the impressive Josh Taylor in 2019, but has won five consecutive fights since then. Unsurprisingly, Haney is the favorite going into Saturday’s fight. However, Prograis, the defending champion, plans to make Haney’s homecoming to his weight class an arduous one. The stage is set for an intriguing showdown in San Francisco this weekend.
