Lerone Richards and Steed Woodall are set to face off in the super middleweight division, while Charlie Edwards and Georges Ollie will compete in the bantamweight division, as announced by Wasserman Boxing on Monday.
The event, called ‘Don’t Call It a Comeback’, will take place at London’s renowned York Hall on Friday, April 12th and will be aired on UK terrestrial TV Channel 5.
Richards (18-0, 4 KOs) began his professional career in 2013 at the same venue. He claimed the Commonwealth title by defeating Tommy Langford (UD 12) and later secured the British title by edging out Lennox Clark (SD 12). The skilled left-hander then went on to win the European title against Giovanni De Carolis (UD 12) before making his mark on the global stage with a win over Carlos Góngora (SD 12) in December 2021.
However, a setback occurred when he had to withdraw from a match against Zac Cerri in November 2022 due to dehydration. Since then, the 31-year-old has triumphed in two fights.
Woodall (18-2-1, 11 KOs) kicked off his pro career in the United States in 2014. Initially competing across the continental United States and the Dominican Republic, he won nine of his first ten fights, with his only draw resulting in a TKO loss to Steve Rawls. He bounced back with victories thereafter.
The British boxer returned to the UK in 2017 and resumed his boxing career in late 2021 following a break. Despite winning three matches, the 29-year-old suffered a defeat in his last bout against Padraig McCrory (UD10).
Edwards (18-1, 7 KOs) transitioned from Team GB to the professional circuit in 2014 after missing out on the 2012 Olympics. He quickly contended for a world title but fell short against bigger opponents. In September 2016, he scored a notable victory over Jon Riel Casimero (10th round TKO) in just his ninth fight on the Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook undercard.
Subsequent wins, including securing the British title, led Edwards to a second shot at a world title. He claimed the WBC 112-pound title after defeating Christopher Rosales (UD 12) and later faced Julio Cesar Martinez in August 2019, the bout ending in a controversial three-round technical decision. Due to weight issues, Edwards relinquished the title, moving up to bantamweight (115 pounds). The 31-year-old has only competed in three bouts and aims to make up for lost time.
Ollie (17-3-1, 2 KOs) has been in the professional boxing scene for over a decade. Following a draw in his debut, the French fighter secured victory in his next five fights but faced defeat against Jeremy Becu (UD8). However, Ollie avenged the loss in a rematch with a 10-round decision.
In November 2019, he unsuccessfully challenged compatriot Karim Guelfi (RTD 9) for the European title. The 32-year-old has emerged victorious in his last six matches.
