LAS VEGAS – Seok Hyun Ko recognized that defeating Igor Cavalcanti would require venturing into unknown territory.

Ko (11-2) put in more effort than Cavalcanti (9-1) in the headline event at Dana White’s Contender Series 70 to earn a UFC contract through an unexpected victory. He is the first South Korean fighter to secure a spot in the promotion via the yearly 10-week series.

After his triumph over Cavalcanti at the UFC Apex, Ko revealed to the media that enduring Cavalcanti’s strength was part of his strategy to tire him out.
