Sergei Pavlovich has taken full accountability for his defeat against Alexander Volkov at UFC Saudi Arabia last weekend. The former UFC title contender faced a one-sided decision loss in his comeback fight following a knockout by Tom Aspinall in November 2023. Tensions rose between the former teammates, as Pavlovich pushed Volkov after the match.

In a recent Instagram post on Sunday night, Pavlovich acknowledged that the fight didn’t unfold as planned and admitted his focus on seeking a knockout resulted in him absorbing unnecessary strikes, leading to his loss on points. Despite the challenging defeat, he expressed appreciation for the support received and pledged to return stronger and more knowledgeable.

Throughout the bout, Pavlovich encountered difficulties closing the distance on the taller and lengthier Volkov, failing to land significant blows. Volkov capitalized on his reach advantage to keep Pavlovich at bay, peppering him with a powerful lead jab that left him bloodied by the fight’s end.

The disappointing display marked Pavlovich’s back-to-back losses, a first in his professional career. The 32-year-old Russian is now focused on regrouping and making a strong comeback in his upcoming UFC appearance.
