Shakur Stevenson and his new promoter, Eddie Hearn, will host a press conference in Los Angeles soon to chat about Shakur’s upcoming fight with Joe Cordina on October 12th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The actual fight date will be disclosed shortly.

Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) will be up against former IBF super featherweight champion Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs) on the same event where unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev will take on WBA champ Dmitry Bivol at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

While it’s not yet certain if Stevenson will have a long-term deal with Hearn post the Cordina fight, the goal is to turn him into an international sensation. Potential future challengers for Stevenson might include William Zepeda, Gervonta Davis, and Vasily Lomachenko.

The plan is to help Stevenson gain confidence with the Cordina match before moving on to tougher opponents like Zepeda and potentially Davis down the line.

There’s a thought that Stevenson’s self-esteem and pride could impact talks for a future fight with Gervonta Davis, particularly if he places too much value on his accomplishments and titles.

Hearn’s promotional tactics are also under scrutiny amid worries that he might make similar mistakes as with other fighters in managing Stevenson’s career path.

Despite these challenges, Stevenson is thrilled about collaborating with Matchroom and Riyadh Season, looking forward to exhibiting his skills and dominance in the ring for years to come.
