Shavkat Rakhmonov believes he should be next in line for the UFC welterweight title, even if Conor McGregor makes a comeback. Rakhmonov, seen as the top contender for the 170-pound championship currently held by Belal Muhammad, shared that he was offered a title shot against Muhammad at UFC 307, but Muhammad had to decline due to timing constraints.

If McGregor returns to fight Michael Chandler before Rakhmonov gets his title shot, there could be some uncertainty given McGregor’s popularity. Nonetheless, Rakhmonov is confident that the UFC will follow their original plans.

Rakhmonov, who has defeated all 18 of his opponents, including six in the UFC, recently made history by becoming the first to submit Stephen Thompson. While he understands the appeal of a potential fight with McGregor, Rakhmonov remains focused on winning the belt and considers McGregor’s return as not affecting his title aspirations.
