The UFC is set to make its return to China, marking the first event since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
On December 9th, the promotion has organized a Fight Night event in Shanghai. The main event will be a crucial bantamweight bout between China’s own Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez.
This update was initially reported by ‘MagicM_MMABets’. X and was later confirmed by MMA Junkie.
Yadong (20-7-1 MMA, 9-2-1 UFC) was originally scheduled to face Rob Font at UFC 292 in August, but had to withdraw due to undisclosed reasons. In his most recent fight, the 25-year-old Yadong competed in a five-round contest at UFC Fight Night 223 on April 29th, securing victory over Ricky Simon with an early fifth-round punch. Yadong has won four of his last five fights, with his only loss being a TKO by laceration against Cory Sandhagen.
Meanwhile, Gutierrez (20-4-2 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) achieved a unanimous decision victory over Alaten Heiri from Mongolia at UFC Fight Night 230 in Las Vegas last month. This win got Gutierrez back on track after suffering a unanimous decision loss to perennial title contender Pedro Munjoz in April.
