Gleason’s Gym, a well-known boxing facility in Brooklyn, is scheduled to have the street in front of its building renamed in its tribute. The intersection of Water Street and Adams Street in the DUMBO area of Brooklyn will soon bear the title Gleason’s Gym Way, a decision approved by the New York City Council. The gym’s proprietor, Bruce Silverglade, is thrilled about this recognition and intends to throw a celebration for the street renaming ceremony on August 21.

Noteworthy boxers such as Sonya Lamonakis have honed their skills and achieved remarkable success at Gleason’s Gym. Gleason’s Gym Way joins a host of boxing personalities and establishments that have been commemorated through street co-namings over the years.
