Hmm…
Derrick Lewis clinched a victory last night (Saturday, May 11, 2024) at UFC St. Louis by knocking out Rodrigo Nascimento in the third round at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Following his win, Lewis continued his usual post-fight tradition of removing his shorts and protective cup. On this occasion, he tossed his cup into the area where the media sits.
As Lewis exited the ring, the reporter who caught his cup requested “Black Beast” to autograph it, and he obliged.
During the post-fight press conference for UFC St. Louis, the reporter expressed gratitude to Lewis for signing the cup, stating: “Thank you for the cup. It doesn’t have any unpleasant odor at all.”
Before Lewis joined the press conference, the peculiar cup-collecting reporter asked UFC CEO Dana White to also sign the cup, leaving White bewildered like others present.
“Um, I’d rather not. You were quite fortunate to catch that,” White quipped wryly. “Today seems to be your lucky day. Sure.”
So, some bizarre and unconventional events unfolded in St. Louis, Missouri, but such occurrences are not uncommon in mixed martial arts.
Lewis (28-12-1) has returned to the winning column after his loss at UFC Sao Paulo. He has a record of 2-1 in his last three bouts, all against fighters from Brazil.
