Brandon Royval Says Nate Diaz Didn’t Start Altercation With Team Makhachev
Number one-ranked UFC flyweight Brandon Royval was present during the incident that took place between Nate Diaz and Islam Makhachev’s team. In an interview with MMAFighting, Royval claimed that it was actually Makhachev’s side that instigated the altercation.
In his own words, Royval recounted, “A water bottle almost hit me when I was with [Nate] Diaz, and I’m like, ‘Alright, who the fck am I fcking up?’” He emphasized that Diaz did not initiate the bottle throwing incident, despite what some may believe.
Royval elaborated further, stating, “The first water bottle was thrown at him. He was walking, that water bottle zoomed past, almost fcking took me out. I look up and I’m like, ‘Who the fck was that?’ and then Diaz turned around and I’m like, ‘Oh, they’re going after him.’ But originally I thought these motherfckers were throwing water bottles at me. I was like what the fck?”
Nate Diaz is known for his willingness to confront challenges, particularly when provoked.
Despite the recent altercation, the popular MMA icon has expressed intentions of returning to the UFC. However, it remains unclear who he would face upon his return to the promotion.
