Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh has voiced his disappointment at Canelo Alvarez for prolonging negotiations and opting for simpler fights in his career rather than more challenging opponents. Canelo Alvarez is preparing to defend his WBA, WBO, and WBC titles against Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas next month.
On the other hand, Terence Crawford clinched the WBA and interim WBO light middleweight titles in Los Angeles, securing his forty-first professional victory with a decision win over Israil Madrimov.
Although there have been talks of a potential showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, discussions seem to have hit a roadblock. Alalshikh expressed his frustration with Canelo for dodging tougher competitors and only pursuing high-profile fights at reasonable prices. He suggested that Canelo’s defeat to Bivol has made him reluctant to face top-tier opponents like Benavidez or Crawford, hence delaying negotiations.
Alalshikh is dedicated to organizing significant fights that bring value to the boxing world and criticized Canelo for favoring easier and less meaningful bouts.
