Tyson Fury Claims Oleksandr Usyk Benefitted from Favorable Judging in Rematch

Tyson Fury is not pleased with how the judges handled his championship rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

The British boxing star once again came up short against Usyk, losing with a 116-112 decision on all three judges’ scorecards in their heavyweight championship rematch held on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia. Fury feels the judging was unfair and that he had done enough to secure the victory.

“I felt a little Christmas spirit in there. I think he got a Christmas gift from them judges – Christmas gift early,” Fury said at the post-fight press conference.

The rematch between Usyk and Fury had the WBC, WBA, and WBO heavyweight titles on the line. The two had previously fought earlier in the year, with Usyk winning by split decision.

Fury stands by his belief that he won the first fight and carries the same sentiment towards the rematch.

“I was quite confident. I thought I won that fight again,” Fury remarked. “I think I have Larry Holmes (syndrome). I thought I won both fights, but yet I’ve gone on with two losses on my record, so there’s not much I can do about it. I can just fight my heart out and do the best I can. Again, I’ll always believe it till the day I die: I thought I won that fight.”

When questioned about future plans, Fury is currently focused on spending the holidays with his family and is undecided about a potential trilogy with Usyk.

“Going home and having some time off,” Fury stated. “You might do, you might not (fight Usyk again). Who knows. We’ll talk about that next year.”
