The rescheduled fight between Ian Garry and Geoff Neil has been given a new date and location.

Originally set for UFC 299 in Miami, the welterweight bout between Garry (13-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and Neal (15-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) has now been moved to UFC 298 on February 17th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main card will be available on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

UFC CEO Dana White announced the date change on social media, along with other fight announcements for upcoming events.

Garry had been slated to face Vicente Luque at UFC 296, but had to withdraw due to pneumonia. The new date sets up a showdown between Garry and Neal, with White not revealing the reason for the change from Luque to Neal.

Garry and Neal were previously scheduled to meet at UFC 292, with Neal pulling out and being replaced by Neil Magny. Garry won the bout by unanimous decision, and during the lead-up to the event, caused a stir by wearing a T-shirt with Neal’s photo printed on it.

The Irishman Garry is undefeated in his MMA career and is considered a rising star in the 170-pound weight class. Meanwhile, Neal, a veteran in the sport, is aiming to get back into title contention after his last fight in March, where he was submitted to Shavkat Rakhmonov. Neal had previously achieved victories over Luque and Santiago Ponzinibbio.

The current UFC 298 lineup features:

  • Alexander Volkanovski vs. Ilya Topuria – Featherweight title fight
