Chael Sonnen believes Sean Strickland has earned his opportunity for redemption against Dricus Du Plessis.
At UFC 308, Khamzat Chimaev delivered an outstanding performance that had fans eager to see him contend for the title.

It’s clear that Chael Sonnen was thoroughly impressed by Chimaev’s performance that night.
Nevertheless, Sonnen maintains that Sean Strickland has done more than enough to warrant another chance at the 185-pound title.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, the Oregon grappler addressed the topic, stating, “Daniel Cormier asked me what I thought about Sean Strickland being next for Dricus Du Plessis. Excuse me? What do I think about that? That’s a great question to ask me six months ago when Sean Strickland dominated Paulo Costa for five straight rounds and became the number one contender.”
Sonnen added, “Do I believe Chimaev should be next? Yes, with the information I have now. But I’ll gather new details that I want to process during the fight between Strickland and Du Plessis.
Moreover, if Strickland wins, we need to head into a trilogy match.
The notion that Sean should express gratitude to the Twittersphere, Dana White, and Hunter Campbell is misguided. He took it. Sean Strickland hasn’t been handed anything since his arrival; everything he has is a result of his own efforts.”
