The UFC is set to return to China with an official announcement.

After numerous reports suggesting that the promotion would hold an event in Shanghai on December 9, the UFC finally confirmed the news on social media this Tuesday. The event will take place at the Shanghai Indoor Stadium.

While the match has been rumored in recent weeks, there had been no official word from the promotion until now. As of now, the main event of the evening has not been announced.

This will mark the second time the UFC hosts an event in Shanghai, with the first being UFC Fight Night 122 in November 2015. The previous event featured a main event between Kelvin Gastelum and Michael Bisping. The promotion has also hosted four Road to UFC cards in Shanghai in May 2023.

At this time, no main event has been officially announced. However, MMA Junkie has learned that the first choice for the main event was Song Yadong vs. Petr Yan. The fight fell through, and the promotion is now exploring other options for Yadong, although his current status is unclear.

The current lineup for UFC Shanghai is as follows:

  • Andre Muniz vs. Park Joon Young
  • Nasrat Haqparast vs. Jamie Malarkey
  • Carlos Hernandez vs. Heitaro
  • Blendson Ribeiro vs. Minyan Zhang
  • Alan Nascimento vs. Sue Mudaelji
  • Hyun Sung Park vs. Shannon Ross
