Dricus du Plessis is getting ready to defend his title against former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 next weekend, but he might have to fight Islam Makhachev in the future.

Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez, hinted at a possible move to the middleweight division for the current UFC lightweight champion. Mendez believes Makhachev is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, but he wants him to finish business in the lightweight and welterweight divisions before considering a move to 185 pounds.

Du Plessis, the current UFC middleweight champion, poses a tough challenge for Makhachev because of his size advantage. Du Plessis has a perfect record since joining the UFC in 2020 and is recognized for his size and power in the middleweight class.

When asked about Makhachev’s potential move to a higher weight class, du Plessis expressed doubt, pointing out his size advantage over Makhachev. Du Plessis thinks Makhachev might be too small to compete with him in the middleweight division.

If both fighters keep winning, they might cross paths in the octagon eventually. Do you believe Islam Makhachev stands a chance against the bigger Dricus du Plessis? Share your thoughts!
