At Professional Shooto Vol. 4 last night (Saturday, January 27, 2023), young flyweight Takaya Suzuki defeated MMA veteran Miyagi with a remarkable flying knee kick at Tokyo’s New Pier Hall, knocking out Yuichi in just 4 seconds.

Before the amazing knockout, Miyagi attempted a glove touch, but Suzuki had other plans and struck Miyagi with a knee. According to M. MA Twitter Wizard Kaposa, the two fighters exchanged gloves during a pre-fight standoff.
At just 19 years old, flyweight Suzuki improved to 5-1 with this victory. He has won five consecutive fights since his MMA debut in 2022, three of which were won by knockout.
With his impressive performances and knockout abilities, it’s likely that the UFC will take notice and consider featuring him in the Dana WhiteContender series, especially given the current shortage of Japanese fighters.
Interestingly, there’s another Japanese flyweight making waves… Akira Hira.
