Takaya Suzuki seems to have drawn inspiration from Jorge Masvidal.
During the Shooto event in Tokyo on Saturday, the Japanese flyweight demonstrated his version of Masvidal’s signature move by executing a flying knee that knocked out his opponent Yuichi Miyagi in just four seconds.
You can watch the incredible knockout below.
In the video, Suzuki swiftly declines Miyagi’s offer to touch gloves at the beginning of the match, following which he delivers the flying knee that leaves Miyagi unconscious and requiring stretcher assistance to exit the cage.
What’s particularly noteworthy is that Suzuki’s feat surpassed Masvidal’s previous record. His knockout was clocked at four seconds, one second faster than Masvidal’s famous five-second KO of Ben Askren at UFC 239 in July 2019.
This victory marked Suzuki’s third consecutive first-round knockout, further cementing the 19-year-old’s impressive performance with five straight wins following his debut loss.
As for Miyagi, a veteran with 17 years of experience, this defeat resulted in his 20th win, 14th loss, and 1 draw, marking his fourth KO/TKO loss in his career.
