Wanderlei Silva is prepared for his fifth and final fight against ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
Recently on MMA hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘Rampage’ revealed that he would debut in professional boxing against former WBO heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs in Qatar on June 1st before facing Rashad Evans and ‘Axe Murderer’. He also expressed interest in a rematch with Silva.
“I couldn’t have asked for better news to wake up to in the morning,” Silva said over the phone. Video posted By Brazilian journalist Ana Hissa. “My nemesis Quinton Jackson is making his boxing debut and has already stated that he intends to fight Wanderlei Silva for the fifth time. I knocked him out twice and he beat me twice. So I think that’s more than fair. So, my fifth fight will be boxing.”
“Rampage” vs. Wanderlei history
“Rampage” and Silva have faced off four times in three different promotions from 2003. The first two fights took place under the PRIDE FC banner, with Silva winning both by knockout. Four years later, they faced off for the third time in the octagon and “Rampage” emerged victorious with a first-round KO win.
Jackson then tied the series at 2-2 with another knockout inside the Bellator cage, 15 years after their first encounter in Tokyo.
