Jaime Munguia has just experienced the second loss of his career in a manner that few anticipated.

During a boxing match in Tijuana, Mexico, Munguia (44-2, 35 KOs) faced off against the heavy underdog Bruno Surace (26-0-2, 5 KOs). Surace delivered a powerful blow in the sixth round that resulted in a shocking knockout victory over Munguia.

Although a dazed Munguia managed to stand, he was clearly off-balance as the referee concluded his 10-count. The fight was officially stopped at the 2:36 mark of Round 6.

The unbelievable knockout can be viewed in the video linked below.

Initially, Munguia was a heavy favorite at -2500 across most sportsbooks, and those odds seemed justified early on. In the second round, Munguia landed a lightning-fast left punch that almost sent Surace flying through the ropes. Remarkably, the undefeated Frenchman was able to answer the count, setting the stage for the dramatic turn of events that followed.

In Round 6, Surace delivered the punch of his life, catching Munguia flush. Munguia fell hard, and when he could not adequately respond to the count, Surace celebrated just the fifth knockout victory of his career.

Just two fights prior, Munguia went the distance with boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez in a super middleweight title bout. Now, with two losses in seven months, he faces considerable uncertainty as he heads into 2025.

A slow-motion replay of Surace’s knockout win can be seen in the video linked below.
