If there is one man who has battled more demons than some could imagine, it’s Jake "The Snake" Roberts. The WWE Hall of Famer’s struggles have been so extensively documented that they were central themes in documentaries like "Beyond The Mat" and "The Resurrection of Jake Roberts." The latter follows his journey to sobriety with significant help from his close friend, Diamond Dallas Page. On a recent episode of the "Insight" podcast, Roberts shared how he feels about his sobriety, expressing immense pride in the thought of never touching alcohol again.
"For me, the smell of alcohol turns my stomach," Roberts admitted. "I can walk through an airport blindfolded, and I could tell you where the bars are at because I can tell that smell and it upsets my stomach now. I’m glad. That’s the last damn thing I need is to go down that road again, and I have no fear at all. Maybe that’s not healthy not having a fear of it, but I just feel so strongly that’s something I’ll never do again."
Roberts has consistently been candid about his battles with addiction, acknowledging that he views himself as a lifelong addict to some degree. Despite this, he recognizes the struggles many face with their addictions and is committed to offering support to anyone in need. The WWE Hall of Famer is approaching five years with the AEW roster, where he recently took on a new role as the manager of La Faccion Ingobrenable, after previously managing the ‘Murderhawk Monster’ Lance Archer throughout his tenure with the company.
