Reports suggest that WWE SmackDown will soon move from its traditional two-hour format to a three-hour show. The change is expected to occur when RAW transitions to Netflix in January 2025, allowing SmackDown to add an extra hour on the USA Network. This shift is anticipated to debut on the January 3, 2025, episode of SmackDown. Although WWE has yet to officially confirm these adjustments, it is known that RAW will temporarily revert to a two-hour format starting on October 7 until its move to Netflix in January.

Aside from the potential format extension, SmackDown has already seen some modifications, including the introduction of a new logo and theme song during its recent premiere on the USA Network. The show now features “Neva Play” by Megan Thee Stallion featuring RM of BTS as its theme song. Moreover, the premiere episode on the network welcomed wrestling icons like Vickie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, William Regal, and Bobby Roode.
